Best season yet!

Cardiff Lynx, 162. Still slaying it. Lynx is a good allrounder. Excellent in powder. Planes up onto the snow as opposed to cutting through it. Great in chop, as long as it is powdery chop. Carves ok, but needs a lot of attention. Not a really locked in feeling. Nose is long and floppy and feels a little excessive. Flex is really soft. Feels surfy and forgiving which is good and fun, but it kind of falls apart at speed where you notice the softer flex and pretty mild camber making you work to confidently hold an edge. The long rockered nose and tail are forgiving and excellent in powder but also there is a lot of board that is just along for the ride on harder snow which can chatter and get in the way of carving, but only on hard and icy groomers. Which are not what this board is made for. As long as there is at least a little bit of fresh snow so that more of this board comes into play, it is killer. As soon as the snow stops and you are stuck riding mixed hard pack or icier conditions some of the charm wears off. It generally feels super light and maneuverable despite the length and width (162cm). Maybe edge to edge it is a little slower than some, but as far as pivoting and redirecting in trees for example, it shines. I guess that is more evidence of the surfy vibe this thing has. Jumping is fine, but I feel the soft flex coupled with the long rockered nose does suck up some of the pop. It lands really well except that the long rockered nose slams down a slit second after the rest of the board with a loud “plunk”. Again, the long rockered nose. That is one of the key features of this board, with perhaps the wider width and the progressive flex. Which again is great is for longer and deeper snow carves, but on hard snow it can be a little bit more of a chore to carve like a boss because you need to really pay attention and have good technique to figure out where the sweet spot is with the shape of the turn as you progress from soft/rockered front, through stiffer/camber middle, and onto the medium stiff rear. But really I have to say with good technique someone can lay down some serious carves on this thing in ideal conditions. I was ecstatic early in the season with all kinds of good snow, but now having less fun in variable spring conditions. But I remember early in the season, with the board freshly tuned, holding some pretty serious carves in icy conditions. That little bit of extra grip you get with a well tuned board is really noticeable here. It is an awesome all-mountain board for everything except maybe carving in hard/icy conditions, depending on your current state of tune. I can imagine it leaning a little more toward the freestyle side of all mountain in a shorter size. The 162 is perfect for most of what I do, but I think the slightly shorter size would just be even more maneuverable and light feeling and might even have a little more pop. Rides switch surprisingly well for what it is. Which opens up some more freestyle possibilities. If was going to take it to the next level? I guess I might like to try it with just a tad stiffer flex and a tad more camber and shorten the nose a little. I love what it does, and I wouldn’t want to change it, but for me, some subtle tweaks that took it a little more toward the carvy/charger side of things would be nice. I have been riding since the late 80's and I am a powder and trees guy who likes to explore all over the mountain looking for little side hits and cool terrain features. But I also like to do groomer/park laps in between storms and love to lay down some deep carves whenever I can. My board needs to be ready for anything and the Lynx is almost perfect. Wondering if a Cardiff Crane would be the one? A little stiffer. A little more camber (lynx is 55% camber to 45% rocker, Crane is 65% camber and 35% rocker!). Longer effective edge. More twin-ish shape. Supposedly floats great, but how could it float like the Lynx does? A little narrower than the Lynx, a little less volume. I can honestly say that my experience with the Lynx was a level up for me and my riding and that I have never had more fun or felt more in tune with a board before like I did with this one. I felt like this board is a stellar example of the art/craft/science of modern board shaping and that it really did actually embody all of the cute misspelled acronymic names for the tech and intention that Cardiff claims it put into it. This board is ideal for people who are not super aggressive, or leaning way into the freestyle/park side of things but instead want a solid, forgiving, capable, all around good board as a dependable companion to explore the whole mountain.

One-board quiver with no weaknesses

This is a one-board quiver for all levels and all conditions. It's a fantastic learning board for beginners, while advanced riders will be blown away by its agility and stability at speed. It handles moguls, it handles ice, it handles powder and it carves trenches. The half camber provides a good amount of pop while allowing for extremely fast edge changes. This board just doesn't have any weaknesses. This is my first Cardiff board and I'll be getting more of them.

Playful and beautiful

Wanted a softer board for the park, but she’s an all-around amazing board. The design is more beautiful in person. Very happy with my purchase! I’m a female and 146 was a good size for me.

Great Board for any level

My wife had a used board off marketplace and was really struggling to learn how to ride. First run down on the Lynx she was 10x better than she’d ever been on her old board! She loves it!
