FAST, STABLE, AND FLIGHTY - SOUNDS LIKE A CONTRADICTION, RIGHT?
NOT FOR THE CRANE: A DIRECTIONAL, ALL-MOUNTAIN TWIN THAT RIDES AS SMOOTH AS IT LOOKS.
The Crane is just as much at home dancing its way down spines as it is flying through the air. This board is for the freerider who likes high speeds, big air, and playful pow days.
Like the other boards in the Cardiff lineup, it employs a variation of our patent-pending “Half-Camber” which places camber under both feet, then quickly transitions into a playful rocker in the tip and tail.
Don’t be fooled by its looks, it will destroy any terrain. Art by Kyson Dana
The patent-pending CARDIFF HALFcamber places camber where it is absolutely necessary and gradual rocker everywhere else. The result is maximum glide, maneuverability and edge control.
Big float, small board: by placing more surface area under foot and a gradual nose rocker the patent-pending HALFcamber allows us to create shorter boards with more float.
The patent-pending CARDIFF HALFcamber enables us to create wider-waisted high performance boards that will accommodate larger boot sizes without toe drag.
The backcountry is our DNA. All our shapes are designed for big mountain riding whether you are at the resort or 1000 miles from it. Our splits are uniquely and subtly different from our solids because of the conditions they are designed for.
Our solid shapes are backcountry inspired but resort tuned - meaning all our solids have been shaped and adapted to ride on groomed snow.
Seamless urethane sidewalls fuse to our cores to create the most durable and damp ride available.
Sharpened and beveled 2.0mm Hardened Rockwell 48 steel edges for maximum durability and precise control.
Black graphite infused sintered base for maximized glide and easy repair.
Reverse sidecut bumps aligned with the bindings add grip to tighter sidecut radii. Exclusive to the CRANE family of boards.
The patent-pending re-curve of the tail on all CARDIFF splitboards will accommodate a variety of skin tail-clips even those designed only for skis.
The patent-pending chamfered inner edge of the split ski at both the tip and tail allow for hook free touring and damage free connection.
All CARDIFF splitboards are optimized for both soft-boot and hard-boot touring setups. Hard-boots typically have longer sole lengths than soft-boots and hard-boot bindings such as Phantom Alphas sit lower to the surface of the splitboard. This requires a slightly wider deck underfoot, which all of our splitboards feature. Our splitboard cores are reinforced in the connection areas and bindings to handle additional forces from the metal and other hard bindings.
